Use Indications for Veterinary Gastrafate

"To treat and prevent the worsening of  the mucosal erosions, irritation, ulcerations and inflammation that give rise to the symptom and signs of a dysfunctional GI tract, symptom-sign complexes such as  food avoidance (nausea) with weight loss, colic, ileus, distention and diarrhea due to mucosal disruptions resulting from disease processes & disorders as well as from surgical and non-surgical trauma."

● Veterinary Gastrafate is a liquid bandage for the GI tract of animals that exhibit GI symptom complexes directly attributed to mucosal disruption.  Symptoms such as diarrhea, low grade, colic, ileus, reflux, vomiting, food avoidance, food intolerance, colitis, though caused by many and varied diseases, each can be traced directly to mucosal irritation, mucosal erosions,  inflammation or ulcerations. The physicality of sucralfate, its muco-adherence, is a direct mechanical treatment of mucosal irritation, erosions, inflammation and ulcerations.  And Veterinary Gastrafate is technically enhanced to provide the highest degree of muco-adherence commercially available.

● Veterinary Gastrafate, both its Equine 1gram per 10ml and its  Dog-Cat 0.350gram per 10ml sucralfate formulations, is  indicated in the management of symptomatic mucosal disruptions of the GI tract in companion animals, namely horses, dogs and cats.

● Gastrafate film-coats, cover and protect the animal from symptomatic mucosal disruptions thereby: (1) relieving pain, (2) preventing unimpeded continuation of injury,  and (3) accelerating the healing of mucosal disruptions  that would otherwise be unavailable to “naked”  irritations, erosions or ulcerations of the esophagus, the stomach and colon. Symptoms that may herald mucosal disruption include low grade colic, gastroenterocolitic spasms, ileus, distention, vomiting, diarrhea and  food avoidance (nausea).
