IN HORSES: CLINICAL DATA ON  EQUINE GASTRAFATE

An open-labeled  practice-based clinical study (13) of  209 horses by 32 equine veterinarians in 19 states confirmed the usefulness and safety of a Equine Gastrafate as there was % efficacy with no adverse reactions or side effects, when used in horses, foals, yearlings experiencing low grade colic, diarrhea, or suspected ulcerations, functional mucosal syndrome.  Veterinarians, having prior positive experiences with samples of Equine Gastrafate, called and ordered same to be used in four different failed treatment scenarios. These ongoing failed treatment scenarios, as listed in Table 2,  were the use of a) PPI alone, b) PPI with antacids, c) H2B with antacids, d) H2b with antacid and bismuth.  The final treatment scenario was that of  “no ongoing treatment”. To these 5 treatment scenarios, Equine Gastrafate was added for  not less than 14 days and up to 28 days.  Data reported was generated from horses treated for no less than 14 days and for no more than 28 days.  Obviously, some horses improved in less than 14 days by the addition of Equine Gastrafate, few required more than 28 days and fewer still, failed to respond (13.9%).
